I created several google classrooms. One for elementary PE (all TK-5 students), one for 5th Period A Day, one for 5th Period B Day, one for 6th Period A Day, and one for 6th Period B Day. I sent out an email to you and your parents....please make sure to log into google classrooms and enter the classroom!
I will be updating the google classroom daily with PE videos as well as some questions that can be answered for raffle prizes! Nothing is mandatory right now, but I want to make sure you stay active (physically as well as mentally!).....I also want to have a little fun with you all!!! Enter the classroom and be on the look out for more details there in the classroom!

Hello Students! I can't tell you how much I miss you. I am working on a google classroom site so that I can connect with you! I have been doing daily Physical Education Lessons, hopefully you have been following me on YouTube and participating! Next week we will start our new unit - disc sports (frisbee). Hopefully it will not be too windy as it is hard to throw a frisbee in the wind! I want to show you the correct way to throw a frisbee so that it does not end up coming back towards you or curving sideways, but rather heads towards your target!! I also want to show you several other ways you can throw a frisbee! We will also be doing some fitness, working on the fitness components ~ I always talk about the lifelong importance of keeping our cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility in the healthy fitness zone...so our lessons will address these, too! Hope you find me on YouTube or you can look for my facebook page or the Stonegate school page! They are all posted there!!
One more thing - next week I have a surprise....I am going to do a raffle on Friday. To enter the raffle, you will have to watch and respond to my videos!! Good luck!! Hope you are all well!!
~ Mrs. Mendenhall
REMINDERS:
If you are absent you must make-up the objective of the day. See below on how that can be done!
NOTE:
Test Make-Ups until March 13th at lunch
Linear Force - comes from the transfer of weight to an object on a straight line
Rotational Force - comes from turning your body around an axis point
How do you get both at the same time? Step with the non-dominant foot to transfer weight AND be able to rotate body.
Pickleball is a game that is similar to tennis!! It is played with a short handled paddle and a whiffle ball. We will be working on the movement skills:
Forehand Hitting and Backhand Hitting
"So often we think it's about the destination, it is actually about the journey."
Make every single moment of your journey count!

Paw Pride Store for Middle School is open most lunches from 12:00 - 12:30!!!

PAW PRIDES
What are Paw Prides - they are used as a positive incentive for students at Stonegate. Although there are times I need to take points away from kids and assign consequences, I would much rather use a positive behavioral incentive program. I often hand out Paw Prides (it is school money) to those that are staying on task, working hard and positively contributing to class. Most days you have an opportunity to redeem the Paw Prides for candy or you can hang onto it and save it for bigger things either in my store or the school store (school store will be opened once a week, on Thursday, Starting September 5th).
5 tickets: Students can turn in 5 tickets at a time for a free warm-up pass
***Must be done before class on Mondays only (or Tuesday if Monday was a holiday)

REMINDERS
* I update grades weekly, please be sure to check your progress
* Grades are based on effort and participation. All students should earn an A, but need to stay on task, work hard and EARN their grade.
*If students are absent they will not be able to earn their points for meeting their objective for the day. In order to make these points up, the student must exercise outside of school (after 2:30 or on weekends) and log it. The information on the log should be: name, type of exercise, how long exercise occurred, if exercise occurred with anyone and a parent signature for full credit. Points for absences can be made up until the end of each quarter. School sponsored field trips will be excused.
*Please send a note if you would like your student to be medically excused from activity. If the injury will last more than 3 consecutive days a medical note from a doctor is necessary.
*California State Fitness Testing will take place in March/April for all 5th and 7th graders! All students (4th-8th) will be tested for a chance to earn Physical Education Fitness Awards and become fitness champions
Proper shoes must be worn at all times!!!
